Staff Incident Support Service

SISS image
In the past, some ACS staff have witnessed, or been involved in, situations at work which they may have found distressing, for example, witnessing an attack or finding an intruder in a building.

The Staff Incident Support Service is a peer support service which has been introduced to provide practical support, someone to talk to and information on how to seek further advice should they experience a serious incident at work.

Coping with a serious incident at work can be difficult, and talking things over with a trained colleague can help. Everyone reacts differently to events and the service will help staff understand and cope with their reactions and emotions.

Our principles

  • We do not report individual cases to management
  • Your privacy is respected
  • Your wellbeing is of the utmost importance
  • You retain full control of the situation
  • We offer confidentiality wherever possible, the only time we cannot offer full confidentiality is if there is a serious risk to yourself or others
