Applying for accommodation

Who can apply for University accommodation?

Undergraduates, postgraduates, special course, short term and international students can all apply for University accommodation for the rest of the current academic year (2009/10).

If you're coming to Sheffield in September 2010, you will be able to apply for your accommodation from MONDAY 22 MARCH 2010.

When to apply

If you are joining us for the second semester of 2009/10 you can apply for accommodation now.

New students starting at the University in 2010/11 will be able to apply from Monday 22 March 2010. You'll be able to apply once you have notified UCAS that the University of Sheffield is your firm or insurance choice, or once you have accepted an offer of a place here - you don´t have to wait until you receive your exam results.

How to apply

If you are a new student coming to Sheffield in September 2010, you will be able to apply online for your accommodation from Monday 22 March 2010. A link to the online application will be provided on these pages.

If you are a current student wanting accommodation for the rest of the 2009/10 academic year, complete the relevant application form at the bottom of the page and return it to the Accommodation Office:

After you have applied

When we´ve received your application, you will be sent an automated acknowledgement email and letter. If you´re an insurance offer holder, a postgraduate, or a visiting student, you'll also receive a confirmation slip. This will need to be returned to us once you have met the conditions of your offer in order for us to be able to process your application.

After you have applied, you should contact us if:

  • There is any information on your application that is incorrect or you would like to change. However, please note that changes cannnot be made once your application has been put forward for allocation.
  • You decide not to come to the University of Sheffield or accept your place in University accommodation
